Tenerife Hotels
Tenerife's territory, with the Teide as its imposing central reference and the sea as its ever present background, has its landscape and microclimate diversity wealth as its most significant characteristic which from ancient times, has made it to be considered a "miniature continent". It has been the result of the spectacular encounter of some natural geographical contours, climate and very uncommon flora, and of the difficult human occupation of the territory.
Tenerife is anchored in the Atlantic Ocean, between the 28º and 29º North parallels and the 16º and 17º West meridians. Its surface area of 2,036 km2, makes it the largest island of the Archipelago, as well as that with the longest perimetral coast (358 kms). It is in the middle of Gran Canaria, La Gomera and La Palma.

Tenerife, this wonderful island who lies out there in the Atlantic Ocean together with the six sisters. It's like a family this group of islands, The Canary islands. Here, the Climate is stable and many people go for health care and recreation, to pick up new strength in their lives. Is specially Tenerife and the smaller island La Gomera I've fallen for. This is a travel guide about Tenerife and about the neighbour La Gomera, I shall tell on the next page.
Characteristic for Tenerife is the vulcano witch is much talked about; Teide, the highest mountain in Spain (3.718m). But the thing is when one take a closer look at the area around Teide, a new Perspective opens for the eyes. Then one can see the enormous crater, which Teide is a part of. Teide is a vulcano into a volcano. It took me some time before I could understand that. To stand there in the landscape makes one rather small, when one think about the enormous natural forces that has created this magnificent scenario.

Tenerife is a beautiful island with good opportunities and possibilities for relaxation. This is the natures health care and recreation, this is what I believe, the best. I experience retreat up at teide, a retreat from stress, a retreat from the big city noise. In this Vulcan area, there is a nice walking track which goes from one end to the other. On that walk one can see all different kind of mountains and lava. Here one can relax and be one with the landscape, just stop and enjoy the magnificent nature. One don't have to go all the way (about 10.000 m), it could be enough with half the way.
Beaches in Tenerife are dramatically black, although there are some palm-lined stretches of golden sands, which have been imported from the Sahara Desert! Warm, clear seas are perfect for swimming and watersports, though we also highly recommend the Lido Martianez at Puerto de la Cruz, with its artificially created saltwater lagoons, sunbathing terraces and lava rock islands.

The resorts are buzzing after dark with a great choice of bars and restaurants. Nightlife is exuberant with clubs and discos keeping up the pace until the small hours, especially in Playa de las Americas.
Inland, Tenerife is stunningly different. It's worth exploring the bizarre landscapes of twisted lava-rock and pine forests. Mount Teide, at the heart of the island, is known as the Jewel in the Canarian crown and is one of the world's largest volcanic craters, as well as Spain's highest mountain.
